Lurex and bobble hats

Like most of us  I do love a bit of sparkle at Christmas.  I’ve been getting a lot of wear out of the Mango sequin jumper

I particularly like it with a white shirt underneath – a look I copied from Sarah.  And I wore it that way to my middle child’s party on Saturday.

My sister recommended this jumper and I overcame my fear of Wallis to go in and purchase

Now it has an open back for the daring but I’ll be wearing with a black vest top underneath.  This jumper is a serious contender for Christmas day as its forgiving but still has some sparkle.

And then a practical purchase – a bobble hat!  Yes really.  Now I do not have a face suited to hats but had seen various women wearing bobbe hats and thought they looked cute and most importantly warm.  So when in Topshop recently I tried a few on and purchased one but have just realised they’ve all sold out online but here it is in case you want to venture in store.

Little Leather Donkey

Last week I had the joy of watching my beautiful eldest in her first Christmas concert.  The photo is not great but I wore Zara pleather fronted leggings, Oasis snake trim wedges (with fluffy M&S slipper socks underneath – brilliant for short boots in winter) black Warehouse rollneck under Gap Pure roll neck.

“Little Donkey” just happens to be one of my favourite tunes. My girl was so pleased with her performance I spent the evening being said donkey while she sang and performed the role of a pregnant Mary with me carrying her around on my back looking for a stable. In pleather trousers. Ah, the things we do for our kids.

The next day was the Christmas Fair at my eldest’s school. The school was shut in the morning while they sorted out the heating so I thought it would be cold. I didn’t bank on the heat generating factors of La Bambina in a fleece sling & running up and down lots of stairs. Anyway, I sweltered in Zara skinnies, brown B4U boots (these are ancient but are my perfect OTK boot. I had them in black too), decade old Mexx brown roll neck batwing jumper, unbranded wool wrap.

Then yesterday we went out for our first Christmas celebration. I wore black Gap skinny legging jeans, black Cos merino shirt dress, old black La Redoute boiled wool coat, black & white Maison Scotch star scarf, pink suede Zara boots.

One of the benefits of a large family is having multiple Christmas days. I was cooking at today’s Christmas so needed to be cool, Christmassy and comfy. I wore Zara bronze sequin harems, black Zara sequin tshirt and Sam Edelman black studded Frankies.

Happy times.

Oops, we broke the internet…

Something technical has happened to our blog which has us all scratching our heads, so please bear with us while we await a bit of technical know how!

How ironic that I am the only one who can post and I spent the day with a jumper on top of my pyjamas going up and down the ladder to the attic to put up the Christmas tree. I hate the attic and all it entails but my husband gets into such a foul mood when I ask him to do it that I’d rather just do it myself (seethes). It’s all worth it when you see those twinkly lights though!

It’s cold in London and I’ve had a crap week. My wonderful mamma surprised me yesterday and took an afternoon off to come over to look after La Bambina. She booked me a manicure & pedicure too. I’m a lucky woman.

I like nail polishes and own many colours. I buy most of mine on eBay. I’ve been looking for the perfect winter red for years and I think I’ve found it. When I saw this in the nail salon it looked a bit pinky but I thought I would try it. I am pleased I did. I love it.

Happy Birthday Sarah

Well it’s not quite her birthday yet, but Saturday night was her very special party.

Sadly it was not possible for all of the WornOuters to attend so in a little tribute to my lovely friends, and because 90% of my wardrobe has been influenced by them, this is what I wore.

This Joseph dress, which MonWornOut chose for me, was a nod to Emma and Belinda who love lace.  It is lined, but a tiny bit see through so you need good underwear.  Mine was Simone Perele Caressence, which thanks to Tracey and Gina is one of my favourite brands and a must-buy during the sales.

Nat does love her  bling so for her I wore a crystal cuff and the Anya Hindmarch Valerie clutch.

Here’s a stock photo of the dress so you can see the detail

I don’t often wear makeup as I’m rubbish at putting it on, but for RachelWornOut I made an effort with smokey eyes.  I used the Benefit Smokin Eyes set which comes with a handy step-by step guide for novices like myself.

To keep warm I wore my MaxMara coat, which JasmineWornOut with Cos scarf as recommended by Eve. It is beautiful and warm and would make a fantastic gift.

Finally the shoes, I did consider wearing the new Zara boots which BelindaWornOut sourced for me, but as it was Sarah’s birthday and we first got chatting over a shared love of shoes it had to be the Christian Louboutin New Simple Pumps.

A good night was had by all.  And of course there was cake.
