Hooray the sun came out and so did my legs! (not so much cheering for the legs though!)
I think as Eve has observed before, neon shades don’t really photograph very well, but these shorts are bright!
Shorts from Asos (sold out now I think but still available in a black/white stripe here) I’ve also just seen these candy stripe ones in what I think is a similar shape although mine are flat fronted rather than fly fronted. I think flat fronted can look neater and more flattering but they need to sit just right to work.
T shirt from Boden – I am quite impressed with this and I have a very low hit-rate with Boden, very lightweight but not transparent. If I was being really picky I would have liked the neckline to be more of a true crew, ie. smaller and higher but that is really nit-picking
Sandals are Hania from ALDO and I LOVE them. For some reason, superflat sandals are killing my feet this year – not sure if it’s running related – but the tiny heel on these makes all the difference. Essentially flats but so much more comfortable.
Bracelets by Marc by Marc Jacobs from My Wardrobe – the site isn’t loading for me right now so I can’t link but last time i looked they still had various styles in the sale. On my right wrist I’ve got the rubber interlocking ones, the flash of neon pink you can see on my left is the leather with gold buckle type.
Friday I spent doing jobs at home while my mum played with La Bambina then went for after school milkshakes. I wanted to try some yellow and grey together. It is my favourite colour combination and I wore a fair bit of it in the warmer weather. Here I am in Zara jeans, Zara cowboy boots, Gap yellow tee and All Saints cashmere cowl neck.
Saturday we had a birthday party at an indoor play centre. I usually hate those places with a passion but it was a good party and I had fun too. It was a 10am start and we had to stop and get a gift on the way (disoragnised, moi?) so there was little time to get ready. I was unhappy with this outfit; Mint Velvet silk fronted tee (similar), All Saints cardigan (similar), Zara skinnies. I added silver Ash Thelmas to go out.
When brocade first started hitting the fashion pages, I paid the trend only cursory attention, pretty confident it wasn’t going to be for me. But then I saw the black and gold jacquard Capri pants in Zara and was strongly drawn to them. I usually wear a more fitted style but as soon as I set eyes on the black and gold beauties I knew they had to be mine. I haven’t worn them yet but I am sure they are going to be a staple in my winter festivities wardrobe. I tried them with my black Mango wool sequin sweater and I like. They look good with a black roll neck and tuxedo style jacket too. So far my Oasis “sassy” wedges are the only shoe I like them with. Luckily a lot of my Christmas entertaining happens in my own home so I will be barefoot and thus avoid the footwear dilemma.
Having a newborn means I am up a few times a night. I usually try and remain half asleep, feed La Bambina and return quickly to the Land of Nod. But occasionally I do some late night shopping. This is usually (luckily) the Internet equivalent of window shopping but every now and then I stay awake long enough to make a purchase. Until now everything I have clicked on “buy” for at 2am has been returned (black and gold chain bomber jacket anyone?), but these metallic brocade skinnies were an inspired dawn purchase. When they arrived I raised an eyebrow at myself, thought “why did I order those curtains?” and didn’t even bother to try them on, but then the lovely Belinda mentioned them and I slit open the big red security return sticker on the Zara box and got them out. I am so pleased I did! I thoroughly enjoyed wearing them yesterday.
I may have got the footwear wrong. I think they could do with a bit of a heel but I was running around all day and needed a flat shoe. I do love these studded boots from Aldo though and by the end of the day I’d almost convinced myself they work with the trousers. What do you think?
A note of caution if you get the trousers, do not allow fidgety be-shoed feet near them! Mine had an encounter with some sequined Lelli Kellys and emerged worse for wear and balding.
Took Baby swimming for the first time early this morning before heading into central London to a demonstration followed by an early dinner. I’m exhausted.
Wore Aldo Boeken boots, Zara black skinny jeans, black Gap slouchy roll neck and black Zara leather jacket with black Marc by Marc Jacobs Francesca.
I don’t think the jeans work with the boots. I would’ve worn my favourite blue Zara slim jeans which are longer but they ripped along the pocket yesterday and are beyond repair. I’m not entirely impressed with how the Gap slouchy roll neck has washed either but I didn’t realise that until it was too late.
It’s Friday, the best day of the week! (Hums manically to CBeebies theme song)
This morning I brightened up my school run with a neon sweatshirt from Cos last winter and grey Isabella Oliver joggers. These are the summer weight ones but see some of Gina’s posts for the new winter ones.
Having spent the entire morning writing up eBay listings for my maternity wardrobe I am now off to bore my hairdresser with the next input of the “to fringe (again) or not to fringe” saga. Zara slim jeans, Zara green pleather fronted jumper, M&S snakeprint chunky scarf in the green and nude colour way, new Aldo Boeken boots that I adore and Marc by Marc Jacobs Francesca handbag.
