A/W Wish List – old and new

I’ve poured over Vogue, NAP and Matches, browsed my high street favourites and I must say I am pretty uninspired. I’ve seen very little that I am interested in buying for winter.

It’s actually quite a surprise that I have seen little. Ok so I don’t like pink much but apart from that A/W’s trends are some of my favourites – lots of black, masculine cuts, shearling, leather, and baggy jeans and trainers still feature.

As I mentioned before, I am in the middle of a serious clothing cull. I keep things for decades and am pleased if they get one wear a season. It would be okay if I had five or ten things that fell into this category. Embarrassingly I have closer to 100. Ten grey tshirts, not one of which I love but one that will go with x skirt and justify me keeping them all. It is just too much and I have been very serious in my attempts to get rid of things and not to do those crazed H&M dashes. I will be buying better in future. Better, happier, more sustainable.

Enough moralising. I do have my eye on a few things.

At the moment all I want to wear is my lovely J Crew neon Cashmere Tippi (here but I can’t see the same pink anymore) It is bright enough to sate my colour lust (one of our lovely readers called me a “colour magpie” which made me smile) and the balance of warm but cool that only cashmere can be (in my humble experience) I have the black tshirt version from a few years ago but am very tempted to purchase another with the 25% code I have. I am seriously kicking myself for not buying the yellow neon when I had a chance. Every day I think, “if only I had the J Crew yellow neon sweater….” Hey ho.

I am also rueing the return of the La Redoute Shearling coat I bought in the sale last year. I loved it but was worried I had spent too much money and it had to go back. I have had a long term love affair with shearling though and have a few pieces I am going to bring in to daily wear including my black shearling Zara stole.

On to things new.

I love boiled wool. I think I’ve mentioned before the boiled wool funnel neck jumper my mum has had for many years from Stefanel. I’ve been looking for similar for over a decade. This Boiled Wool Cape from The White Company looks similar though it might be too similar to my draped black boiled wool coat.

I also really like this Chunky Button Poncho from The White Company, though I’m slightly concerned that being 100% merino wool might mean it leaves fluff on anything I’d wear it with. And the quality of the jumpers I’ve had from there in the past hasn’t been fantastic though this may just be me?

I am hoping to find a Cos version of the Acne Wham oversized sweater (or a NAP discount code!) Then I will discard all the similar sweater dresses in my wardrobe that no longer fit / have moth holes etc.

Were I rich, this Day Birger leather jacket would be mine in a flash. As it is I have a black Zara leather jacket, a grey All Saints Post Commander and a Massimo Dutti red leather biker that will more than adequately do the job (not that it stops me lusting!)

These J Brand grey leather trousers are what I really, really, really want. There must be a High Street pair that would be far better suited to my budget and lifestyle (“paper thin leather” worries me) If you have seen them, please let me know!

Boots wise I am sorted. I was lucky enough to be gifted these shearling lined Acne Pistols for my birthday. I bought the Ugg Gershwins last year for when it is really cold and my Ash Jalouse in stone and black are still going strong. I also have my Belstaff biker boots which will last me years more.

I am not planning a new coat purchase either (not a very aspirational wish list – sorry) I have my Barbour Arctic Parka for when it gets freezing, my Zara parka from last year, as well as the grey Zara coat with faux leather sleeves which I still love. I am even tempted to give my almost unworn Zara navy studded sleeve coat to my beautiful sister.

This is a jacket 637878_mainrather than a coat but I am trying to resist the temptation to visit a River Island to try it on.

And finally, these. They won’t be on the wish list for long as they have my name all over them and will be on their way to me as soon as I find them in my size. I blame Joanna from Poppy’s Style and am expecting her buy me a large glass of wine when she is next in the UK to make up for making me fall in love with them ūüėČ

That’s all for now. What’s your major current clothing lust? Please do share.

Navy and mint

I wear a lot of navy, an awful lot. I used to wear a lot of black but unless its for going out, I just don’t think it does me any favours in daylight.¬†¬† And with navy I love mint green.¬† I have a yen for these Paige¬†Kylie jeans

But I don’t know, past experience has shown that pale jeans do my thighs no favours.¬† I find them more unflattering than white jeans, am I alone in this I wonder?¬† But those jeans would look so nice with the Dune wedge giraffe sandals that I am still obsessing over, and my navy Tippi J Crew jumper.¬†¬† See how I’m thinking jumpers because its still rather chilly out.

When I was looking at sandals in TopShop I saw a lovely lemon jumper but the fabric was very synthetic and I suspect would not have washed well.  Yes, I have turned into my mother.  But I do rather fancy something in primrose as again it looks lovely with navy and also white.   A quick search produced this pretty jumper from Pure Collection which I have pinned in anticipation of the sales

I also saw WIT posted a photo on twitter of her wearing this top

I’d wish listed this a while back and of course now its out of stock in my size, I really, really want it.¬† Honestly I am a marketer’s dream – show it to me and then dangle out of my reach and oh how I desire it.

And my final wish list item is this bracelet I saw on the Pink Peonies blog

The price is fairly reasonable I think but I do wish Stella & Dot did the occasional code.

And finally, today I am wearing

Many, many layers.  River Island Amelie, Beige Pistols (bargain from Outnet last year), Gap jumper, Farhi linen biker and Lily & Lionel bloom scarf.

my-wardrobe Lust List

It is a while since I had a good browse on my-wardrobe but last night La Bambina’s sleep reached new lows and I found myself awake in the middle of the night with nothing to do but surf the net.

Here are some beauties I spotted.
I must start by mentioning Acne (top) and Goat (second photos) The colours at Acne this season are simply fabulous and happen to be my favourites Рmarigold yellow and bright green. I adore it all. I could but smile to look at the Goat offerings. I am not sure why but the style of these dresses make me feel hazy and happy. I wonder if it is because there is an air of some of the styles my mum wore when I was a kid.

Joseph Gold Stretch Leather Leggings

Be still my beating heart.  These Joseph Gold Stretch Leather Leggings are so lovely I really do feel slightly breathless when I look at them.  They are way out of my price range but wow! I dare not even say how I would wear them for fear I will fall so in love that I will not be able to resist them.

Bionda Castana Maddox

How beautiful are these Bionda Castana Maddox shoes?

Bionda Castana Tala Scalloped Edged Heels

There is something so appealing about their Tala Scalloped Edged Heels too.

It was a brand I was unaware of until Belinda Wornout linked to a pair of their heels she adored a few years ago.  I was immediately attracted by the name. I had white blonde poker straight hair in my late teens in Italy and my best friend still wore her hair natural almost black with corkscrew curls. We were known as Biondina Castana and even had a cocktail named after us in our favourite club. You can read more about the other Bionda Castana here

Kzeniya clutch

I love this Kzeniya clutch and may well have purchased it had I any weddings or similar events to attend this year.

Aila clutch

This Aila clutch wins the beautiful small bag award though. My sister had a white designer leather bag years ago, the first real luxury item any of us owned, and it went with everything.  I remember that we used to borrow it for dates, interviews, nights out.  I wonder where it is now?

Rebecca Minkoff Moonstruck bag

This studded Moonstruck bag from Rebecca Minkoff is on my birthday list. I have wanted a grey Alexander Wang Rocco for a long time but have been put off by how many snides and “tributes” there are around. Most of my clothes are from Zara and H&M so I know I am by no means an exclusive dresser. If I spent that much on a bag though I would want it to look special. The Moonstruck has a hefty price tag but the my-wardrobe loyalty scheme is very good now and a decent discount and pooling of birthday money and it might be mine.

These See by Chloe Nubie metallic silver shoes made me think of the beautiful Vince flats that Tiffany Wendle (curtsey) wears.

I had totally forgotten about T-Bags and was pleased to see my-wardrobe have started stocking their new range. This dress looks so fresh and easy to wear for summer, one of those hardworking dresses you could wear to just about all the summer social gatherings I can think of.

I don’t really wear skirts anymore but if I did this Preen Agatha one would be coming home with me.

Dara Ettinger Lark Dyed Amethyst ring
I love a statement ring. The colour of this Dara Ettinger Lark Dyed Amethyst ring is beautiful and my love for it hasn’t dimished over the weeks I have had it on my wish list.

Have a happy Friday.

Dressing like a 3 year old

As¬†I got dressed this morning I realised that I was wearing pretty much exactly the same outfit as my 3 year old wore on Saturday – I think this definitely counts as a fashion fail doesn’t it?

The dress is old Gap but similar here, the jacket is from the Uniqlo/Comptoir collaboration last year and my boots are the ever faithful Pistols.

You’ll be glad to know on Saturday I resisted stripes and went for a pretty print top from Isabel Marant Etoile

The jeans are old Hudson straight legged ones rolled up.¬† Now I think this top is going to work better with white skinnies and Swedish Hasbeens in the spring.¬† However¬†even I, white jeans lover extraordinaire just can’t bring myself to wear them in February.

I popped into town at the weekend and tried this jacket on in Comptoir

It is really gorgeous so will keep it on my wishlist and hope it gets reduced in their Spring sale.  Would look great with just a white vest top like this one from TopShop

And this necklace which I am really coveting from Stella & Dot

Or with stripes like this

Because obviously I’m a dead ringer for that model.

In the navy

Golly I am wearing a lot of navy blue today

The Zara coat, cream heattech top, navy Michael Kors top (copied Gina and Nat with this one), River Island skinnies, Pistols and Tory Burch leopard bag.¬† And I can feel Eve flinching as I’m clashing metals with a gold M&S necklace and the pewter studs on my coat – Sorry Eve!

And I am now obsessed with getting a longline fur gilet¬†having seen Nat¬†in the Marc Jacobs one.¬† I’ve tried much fur on over the years as I’ve mentioned before but have never found quite the right thing.¬† But now in my head this mythical gilet is going to be that magical item that transforms my wardrobe.¬†¬† So a quick look on the wonderful Shopstyle has unearthed this:

Am presuming I wouldn’t have to stand with my hands in the air to make this work though.¬† ¬†SHOPSTYLEASOS15 gets 15% off ASOS currently so definitely worth a try I think.

In other code news A563 gets 25% off Boden.  And finally I spied Stella MacCartney for kids in my local TK Maxx this morning Рnothing that fitted my daughter but some nice pieces so worth a look if you have one nearby.
