Is it that time of the year again?
Today I am wearing the Danya belted dress from Whistles. This colour (Aubergine I think) is sold out on the Whistles website but the lovely people at Atterley Road have limited stock.
Whistles has now re-stocked the Danya in Navy.
Swoon. Am tempted, as you know Blue is one of my favourite colours, but not without a discount code. March time? Grazia?
Shoes are Nine West Flax black suede stiletto courts.
Nine West gets my vote for a generous size 9 (42) and good reductions can be found online and at House of Fraser.
Navy Blazer/Jacket is Gerard Darel from Ma Boutique and is part of a dress suit.
A little bit of red for V day has come out in this DVF scarf.
I wish I could but I just can’t escape them at the moment. There is no other option in this cold weather than thick opaques.
Mine are from Wolford. Falke is another favoured brand but Wolford are a better fit and richer black in colour if that makes sense.
The dress is from Gerard Darel worn with the black metallic belt again.
This dress is my failsafe throw on and rush to the station item of choice. No longer available but many similar styles available here and the sale is still on……Gerard Darel Ma Boutique
Please note I did not run to the station in the shoes as shown in the photos. My yeti boots took to the slippery ground instead.
The orange jacket/cardigan/knit is from Zara. I usually wear this in the Spring/Summer with white skinny jeans, black cropped jacquard trousers or over a jersey dress.
It is meant to be reversible but I have not got round to wearing it like that as yet. Labels need to be removed first.
DVF Alina shoes via my Wardrobe. I love the punk rock studded detail and the fact that they fit well for very pointed heels. My Wardrobe has a very limited number of US 11/UK 9 shoes available on their website so to fellow size 8+ shoe size readers, be quick!
I do not tend to accessorise too much apart from scarves and bags as the. incredibly witty and gorgeous Rachel worn out reminded me last night. This beauty I am carrying today is the Anya Hindmarch Huxley, in black of course. It’s one of my real favourites.
Did Black and White ever go out of fashion?
For work today I am wearing a pair of very old Gerard Darel classic black trousers.
The black metal chain type belt is also from Gerard Darel. No links as both items are so old but similar here Gerard Darel, Ma Boutique
The jacket/blazer was bought in the sale last year from Paul Smith. Paul Smith
The main colour is grey but it has black lapels and is fully lined in cream. It’s been worn out to the max since being purchased but today it is worn with one of my favourite white stretch shirts from La Redoute, a decade old and still going strong. La Redoute
I love this particular shirt as it stays tucked in all day and does not allow for any cleavage glimpses in the office.
LK Bennett metallic grey Shilos are on my frozen feet after trudging in yeti boots to the office.
The reason for the “ish”? Just been told that the trousers are dark Navy and not Black. You can’t tell, can you?
My life has been a sartorial wasteland lately. What happens when the temperature drops dramatically and you want to be warm and cosy at home? Yes, that’s right, your boiler breaks down. This seems to be a constant theme in my life and this time just to add a bit of excitement into the mix, the boiler has an intermittent fault which has the engineer flummoxed, so sometimes we have heat and sometimes we don’t – central heating Russian roulette! Given that I have some kind of mutant circulation which causes my body to be cold even at the height of summer (I was the only person in Sydney wearing a cardigan on a 35 degree summers day!) I am not enjoying life much at the moment. Harrumph.
So I have been wearing layer upon layer upon layer, which is not a good look and makes me feel grotty. Sigh. At the weekend though we had a family lunch in a house with proper heating so I was able to shed a few layers at least. I wore a long-sleeved silk thermal vest, a silk top, my ASOS sequin jacket, my Gerard Darel blazer, which is one of my favorite items of clothing ever -look at those shoulders! MiH paris, and my Edelman Adenas. On my nails i had Chanel rouge Noir with a layer of Lamcome Le Vernis on top. I love the colours of Chanel nail varnish, but no matter what I do it chips within hours.
I’m trying a new layering approach today, nothing slouchy or oversized, I have realized that is bad for morale!
A few codes have come my way that you might like:
Jigsaw have 20% off today, Thursday
Baukjen and Isabella Oliver have 20% until the 16th with code XMAS20
Hobbs, Gap, Oasis, Kurt Geiger and numerous other stores all have sales on now
I’m sure that my predilection for setting myself style challenges says something about my personality (something I’d rather not know probably!), but it works for me. Last time I decided I wouldn’t wear jeans for a week, now I’ve noticed that I haven’t worn a dress for ages, so that’s what I’m doing now – a week of dresses!
Yesterdays dress was an old Topshop favorite. It has a pleated neckline and a-line skirt and was a bit maternity like so I put a length of elastic in the hem to give it a bubble shape. No sewing involved, the ends of the elastic are joined with a safety pin. Underneath I have a stripy top that I love from Modaspia which I found on Etsy. An old glittery belt gives me a bit of a waist and the boots are my Nicole Farhi’s.
Today I have on a dress I haven’t worn in so long even though I love it. Why do I do that? It’s a silk print from Mango. I’m always on the look out for print dresses but rarely find one that I like colourwise, this one is great though. I have a Nicole Farhi belt and my Autograph ankle boots with it. I couldn’t decide on the blazer though. The grey one is one of my all time favorite items of clothing, I love the cut so, so much. It’s Gerard Darel and I stalked it in House of Fraser last year until they had one of their 25% weekends. It’s wool jersey and so comfortable.
I did a quick swap of the jacket for my velvet Zadig & Voltaire. The warmth of the colour make a big difference, I think. I’ll stick with the grey one today I think purely for the comfort factor, but if I was going out I think I’d wear the velvet. Anyone want to take me to lunch?
