Berry nice

How many hours until nursery and playgroup re-start??!!  Well, at least I have this sumptuous silk/cashmere berry scarf to bury myself into.  Its luxe, lovely and only £18.50 from the charming ebay sellers in Scotland, called Mercado Gifts (I have bought from them before).  They are hoping to get some more jewel tones in later this year, and I will be keeping my eye out for the “emerald” that should be coming.  The eBay photos aren’t the best for displaying the “true” colour, so I hope you can see in my photos that the berry is actually slightly pinker than it may otherwise appear.

I am also wearing the Mango tweed jacket, a black H&M long sleeve top, black Kurt Geiger ankle boots and new fab jeans from Mango.  These are called “Kate”.  Well, Kate is great.  £25, with a 25% poly content for good stretch that holds, and a great length for me, so no need for alterations.

Kate jeans.  I am so fickle – these are the ones I will get a second helping of, because they are just a bit nicer on me than the Zara ones I posted about yesterday.  Unless I find something I like more tomorrow…

Biker chic and pretty pinks

As is often the way with me, I was briskly trotting straight ahead, when I spotted something from the corner of my eye.  And the other day it was this fabulous wool mix biker jacket from H&M.   Its great, its warm, and its £25.

I wore it the very next day, with indigo skinny jeans from Uniqlo J+ (these ones have a high poly content, so don’t lose their shape), a white Primark vest, a dusky pink H&M long sleeve top and black Kurt Geiger Willow ankle boots (old).

I didn’t plan to put dusky pink with the black biker, but that’s the top I grabbed first and I liked them together.  To continue my “soft pink with black biker” combination, I wore Loreal Colour Riche lipstick in 302, Boise Rose.  A very pretty pale rose pink (Husband really likes it), that isn’t candy pink.  Yuck.  I like to eat candy, not wear it.   I think pink is one of colours you must be most careful in choosing shades of, don’t you agree?  I like pretty, not Hello Kitty (ha ha ha, oh God, I am actually really tired today – sorry!!).

Another Loreal Colour Riche product I wear a lot, which is also a “cool” toned pink (which works best on me) is the Loreal Rose Bagatelle nail polish.  Slightly greige, but pink, if that makes sense.  I love it on my toenails.  Here is a review of the Rose Bagatelle polish.

(These are not my nails – mine are dire, despite Ann Wornout’s best efforts to help me)

The perfect fingernail polish for me is OPI Passion, a sheer pink, like the classic French manicure pink.  I first bought it for my wedding and have worn it ever since.

That’s the nickname that an ex-boyfriend once gave me, based on the fact that my head was (is) disproportionately small in relation to my body. These days, it might also reasonably relate to my fondness for Pinterest – aesthetic voyeurism and visual notes-to-self at its very best. How I love it!

So, after seeing – and rather liking – these KG Kurt Geiger shoes in Selfridges on Sunday, I was feeling pretty smug about having resisted the lure of the buy. “Summer’s as good as over,” I reasoned, maturely, with myself. “You already have your ASOS Haste sandals, which you’ve barely worn, you have a gazillion pairs of flat strappy numbers and you took back the Dune Fentons because you’d not had occasion to wear them by the time the returns period was about to expire. So let’s not be buying these babies. Let’s just pin ’em for future reference.”

So far, so restrained. One great thing about Pin is that it’s a vicarious hit of loveliness – you pin something you love, and it’s like an ownership of sorts – not quite as heady as the rush of the shopping bag (and credit card bill!) but enough to take the edge off an acquisitive appetite.

Except when you pin something that comes in two different colourways and, idly curious, you click on the alternative. And – ooops. You love it more, it’s reduced even further, and it’s in your size.

Fingers (and KG Misty-clad toes) crossed for an Indian Summer, eh?
