We’re shopping

Today we went to Westfield.

I always start in the wonderful Grind on the ground floor. Their cakes and savouries are so tasty and they make really good coffee (sadly I don’t say that about many places) Today I scoffed down this cherry and almond scone. Heavenly.

I could barely resist buying up half of the kid’s section in John Lewis. Some beautiful vibrant prints. Finding their Kin kid’s range was wonderful! I think it is new and I don’t know much about it but I saw stylish, affordable clothes for kids and my heart sang. I showed my gratitude by making several purchases.

The blue and white smock and dress are really cool in real life and the grey and orange dress is already one of my favourite things my daughter has ever had. I adore it. I was excited to look at the women’s version on line when I came home but I think it’s far less stylish than the kid’s range. There is a nice orange silk tee that may tempt me though and it’s definitely a brand I shall be keeping an eye on.

I went into Zara to take some things back and as I walked in the door my eyes settled on these.

I have spent winter resisting the leopard version. This was just too much. I will be able to indulge my passion for animal print, studding and trainers all at the same time as well as nodding towards the monochrome trend. Happy Mama!

I wore a comfortable outfit. Zara plum harems, Belstaff bikers, J Crew cashmere long sleeve tee, Zara leather jacket, Marc by Marc Jacobs dragon scarf, Nars Schiap lipstick, See by Chloe bag, Primark shopping basket.

1,2,3 magic

It was a bank holiday weekend here, and we went on a family day out. As much as I would like to have thrown on a pretty dress, flip flops and sunhat, I would have come home with pneumonia. Sigh. So, I had to take the layered approach.

I started off with pretty dull basics, Oasis Cherry jeans, grey marl Zara T and my staple at this time of year, Massimo Dutti navy coat. Then added my J Crew necklace, See by Chloe shoes.

Next Marc by Marc Jacobs birdy scarf.

and finally my gold Mulberry.

All rounded off with a seaside walk and a chocolate eclair. A perfect day!

What a cheapskate

My fundamental problem in life is that I have champagne tastes on a lemonade budget, which means that I have to be
(a) creative,  and
(b) relentless in pursuit of a bargain.

Ebay and I are great friends, no matter what you are looking for, if you have patience, you will eventually find it on ebay.

So here I am in some of my bargain hunter’s spoils. After posting last week about my love affair with cobalt blue, I tracked this top down for 4 Euro in H&M (I also have something else in blue in the pipeline).

The MiH Paris jeans are one of my best ebay finds ever, guess how much? No, lower. Guess again. No, lower than that. Oh, ok, they were a fiver!! Five actual pounds (smug). There was a miss-spelling in the listing and I was the only bidder. At the same time I got a pair of MiH Oslo’s but the cut didn’t suit me, so I resold them (yes, for more than I paid)

And my lovely Chloe shoes which were less than a third of the original price.

Of course I splurge occasionally, sometimes when you see something you just have to have it  NOW, yes, Maje gold boots I am thinking of you. But of course fashion maths dictates that for every 3 bargain purchases you are allowed one extravagant splurge, so that means I deserve the boots, right?

My fashion fairy friend

I have had my eye on these coral See by Chloe ballet shoes since they came into the shops in February, but being a bit stingy decided to hold my nerve until the sales. I was kicking myself when my size was sold out. In the olden days,  I would have just brooded about it for a few weeks. But now, of course, a few clicks of the mouse and there they were, for a quarter of the original price. Result! But as I feverishly type in my credit card number, quick before they disappear from the basket, I realised that John Lewis wouldn’t post them internationally. Cue begging to my WornOut friends, and lovely, lovely Belinda obliged. I love the color so much, and, always an added bonus with shoes, they are so comfortable.
Here they are with those Gap khakis, rose pink massimo Dutti jumper, denim jacket and liberty-print scarf.
Sold out at John Lewis they are available from the US in other colours, I highly recommend them as an everyday, walking to work/shops/park shoe as they are so comfy.
