Last night I went out with Husband to the Southbank, which is still so exciting to me when it’s all lit up at night.
I just don’t get it. Its a terrific building, but seems to be mostly empty and there are only a few pieces of art I found either attractive or interesting. My taste is more towards Impressionism and classical art…
There is, however, a room of clever photomontages by John Heartfield (Room 5) that are cleverly derisive against Nazism and Fascism, by parodying their propaganda. Very amusing and worth spending some time in.
“Hurrah, the butter is gone! “”Iron has always made a nation strong, butter and lard have only made the people fat“.
And while I was there, to the amusement of Husband, I ducked into a disabled toilet to try and take some photos of my new Primark super soft skinny jeans. The colours in this range are superb – rich and varied jewel shades. I am just unconvinced about the cut for me. I think I prefer a thicker denim and a more consistently snug fit (too tight in some places, but bags around the knees…). It seems that, as with art, my taste in denim may also run towards something more classic.
However, as the colours are so beautiful and I haven’t found anything better, expect to continue to see the Primarks until I do find my Holy Grail of Coloured Denim.
